About the Designer:
Tianyi Wang, Owner
TISELLE was established by Tianyi Wang in 2001. Letterpress for Tianyi, started out as a hobby after receiving Baby June, a Vandercook cylinder press as a graduation gift from her mother. Her interest in tinkering on the press in the garage eventually grew into a 1500 square foot design studio in the heart of Los Angeles, California. Initially, TISELLE specialized in custom design work — everything from event invitations and social stationery to business cards. TISELLE’s unique designs generated such a buzz that a retail line of distinctive stationery products was created to fulfill the growing demand and debuted in May 2008, at the National Stationery Show in New York.
As a granddaughter of a Taiwanese pioneer in journalism, Tianyi has been attracted to printing since she was a 6-year-old little girl hanging out in the newspaper printshop. She fell in love with the gentle clanking sounds of the press, the light wafts of grease and solvent, and flipping through the rows and rows of metal type. Tianyi’s passion for art and design led her to the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where she studied illustration and graduated with Honors. Tianyi’s paintings and drawings have shown in various Southern California galleries -- from Hollywood to Newport Beach -- and she has been published in Artweek Magazine and The Orange County Register.
